At the time, she was taping two shows a day, which isn't exactly easy to pull off. There are guest briefings to read, questions to prepare, jokes to write, and wardrobe changes to make all within a limited amount of time. I could see right away, as I got caught up in the backstage whirlwind, that the lazy and faint of heart need not apply for Joan's job.
